Futsal is one of the fastest growing sports across the United States. We are pleased to be Birmingham's only year round futsal provider. This Fall BHM Futsal is hosting our Academy ID Days for local youth players of birth year 2013-2004
What is the Futsal Academy?
In Dec 2017, US Youth Futsal Announced the launch of an academy. "The U.S. Youth Futsal Academy Program is intended to be the equivalent of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy," said Soorena Farboodmanesh, the new USYF program's director. "The objective is to produce players of exceptional ability in Futsal and soccer." In January, 2019, US Youth Futsal selected BHM Futsal to join the program. BHM Futsal is currently 1 of 26 clubs participating in the National Academy Program.
Why Futsal Academy?
Player development is our #1 priority at Birmingham Futsal. Serving the player's needs is a requirement of every program we have from beginners to advanced. Our Academy program allows our most advanced players to be challenged at the Regional & National level. Designed to not conflict with youth soccer programs, our program picks up the intensity in the winter and summer. It is a year-round program with a minimum of two practices a week in the fall and spring. More practices and games will be offered and players can attend when available. Our games will be within the Birmingham area with a few against other academies such as Atlanta, Knoxville, or Charlotte that will meet at a venue between us.
When is it?
In the Winter/Summer, practices are twice a week and our teams play in a winter league in Birmingham and the USYF Regional tournament. During the Fall/Spring, we manage the schedule around club soccer conflicts to ensure players are getting consistent time on the courts. We have teams from U9 to U17 that train year round and compete in the Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.
Practices will be mainly Fridays and Sundays as it is built around soccer.
What to bring?
Players should bring a water bottle, shin guards, and joy to learn. All sessions will take place on a wood floor so futsal shoes or running shoes should be worn. NO cleats or turfs please.
